Way back in the early 1950’s kids in the UK were getting turned on to music that had been the reserve of black drinking establishments all over the USA for about 100 years. Middle class youth all up and down the country were picking up guitars and bashing out tunes by the likes of Robert Johnson, Son House and Leadbelly. Soon recordings by John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, BB King and Chuck Berry were the essential listening of any would be musician this side of the Atlantic, we are of course talking about the Blues.
