Way back in the early 1950s kids in the UK were getting turned on to music that had been the reserve of black drinking establishments all over the USA for about 100 years. Middle class youth all up and down the country were picking up guitars and bashing out tunes by the likes of Robert Johnson, Son House and Leadbelly. Soon recordings by John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, BB King and Chuck Berry were the essential listening of any would be musician this side of the Atlantic, we are of course talking about the Blues.
Blues music was the mother and father of almost all forms of popular music we listen to today, Rock, Jazz, Metal, Soul, R&B all have their roots in Blues music. Guitar playing legends like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Brian May, Mark Knopfler, Paul Kossoff, Peter Green, Jimmy Page, John Mayall and Keith Richard to name just a few all cut their teeth on Blues.
But any Blues fans reading this (if they're still awake) will be thinking "we know all this shit what's your point?"
We are a Blues Band... that's unlikely to come as a surprise if you have read this far, we all love Blues music and love playing it, the age gap is over 30yrs between the youngest and oldest members of Same Old Story and 'that' is the point, Blues bridges generation after generation, it has never gone away and sells millions and millions of records world wide every year and attracts huge audiences everywhere it's played live.
